Heisey's venture into the world of animals started in the late 30's and expanded over the next two decades. They produced over 53 animal figures, not counting the decanter tops or any combination items. Perhaps their crowning glory was when their animals were featured in the 1950's Broadway play and later feature movie called "Glass Menagerie staring Jane Wyman. All animals were produced in Crystal and various others were produced in Amber, Cobalt, and Sultana (dark Amber). Some of the animals were marked with the "Diamond H" sometimes, while others were never marked.

Except for the Goose (Wings Down) & the Rooster Vase which Imperial never made, the Imperial Glass Corporation continued to produce all of the animals in Crystal and a number of other colors through the mid 1980's. Imperial's production marking were the same as Heisey's in Crystal. In the later years, they included IG, LIG, ALIG, and NI logos.

In 1985, Heisey Collectors of America, Inc purchased most of the molds from Imperial and continues releasing various items. All such items are never in Heisey's original color and are carefully marked "HCA".

Heisey Cut Block #1200/170 produced 1896-1899. Introduced at the same time as Fandango, this is Heisey's second design. It is a rather plain design consisting of a wide band of different size blocks encased in larger blocks. Produced in Crystal with a few pieces being made in Ivorina Verde or Ivory. No item in this pattern is marked.

Sometime in 1899 when only a berry set remained in production, it was renumbered #170. To add to the confusion, this pattern is also often called Square In Diamond Point.

Heisey Empress #1401 produced 1930-1938. A major tableware line which was widely used for Heisey etchings and cuttings. Originally called "Lilies of France" it can be identified by its embossed fan and series of beads. Made in Crystal, Moongleam, Flamingo, Sahara, Alexandrite, Tangerine, and Cobalt. A wide range of shapes, with several pieces made in both square and circular design. A dolphin finial on the covered lemon, Lion head bowl, Lion claw footed candlestick, and a number of items with dolphin head feet all combine to make this a very unique pattern. Most of the items are marked with the "Diamond H"  On dolphin footed items, look carefully on the inside leg.

After 1938, Heisey re-worked a number of the molds giving them an internal optic and then declared them to be a new pattern called Queen Ann (1509) which they only produced in Crystal. While there is an identifiable difference between most Empress and Queen Ann items in Crystal, as current industry practice is to consider all Crystal items to be Queen Ann. To avoid confusion we shall adhere to that popular practice.

In 1981 Imperial Glass Corporation made the three-toed candlestick in their "Sunshine Yellow" color for Collectors Guild. Even though marked with a CG in a circle, these candlesticks are sometimes confused with Heisey's. They also produced the dolphin footed floral bowl in Sunshine Yellow and a Jug in Green. Both of these items were also marked with the circle CG.

Heisey Old Williamsburg #341 produced 1939-1957 A major colonial style tableware pattern produced in Crystal with a select few items available in other colors. Most items are marked with the "Diamond H".

Although a simple design, this is a very confusing pattern. In 1939 Heisey renamed the "Puritan" pattern to "Old Williamsburg" retaining the same Line number. Some items, mainly the stems, were continued from Puritan, but then Heisey included items from Peerless (300), Stem line (373) and other colonial patterns into Old Williamsburg. In the mid-1940's some of the original molds were redesigned.

From 1959-1984 Imperial started production of at least 80 items under the Old Williamsburg name in all their production colors including Crystal. Imperial items from 1959-1965 may be marked with the "Diamond H".

We have carefully separated the items into their proper pattern names. You will find items under Heisey Old Williamsburg, Heisey Puritan, Heisey by Imperial, and Imperial Old Williamsburg.

Heisey Old Williamsburg #341 Epergnette 1-lite 5-1/2" Oval peg insert. "Clear Diamond H" at the bottom of the foot and an unusual "Patent Applied for Heisey's" paper label. Research indicates the patent (#153506) was granted April, 1949.
