To lessen confusion and to simplify your visit, we have combined the traditional "depression" and "40-50-60's" glassware sections into one "Depression and Beyond" section. Now instead of having to search each, you will find your item on one page under the manufacturer regardless of whether somebody "decided to move it from one book to another".

Since we group items by the manufacturer and not the pattern, you can easily find the items you are searching for. Although we try to list materials under the proper name of the maker, we did make an exception with New Martinsville & Viking. Given their circumstances, we elected to list the items from both companies under New Martinsville, which is located on our Elegant page. Hazel Ware items are listed under "Continental Can"  and we chose to put "Fire King" items into a separate section.

Created in 1937 by the merger of Hocking Glass and Anchor Cap & Closure, the company continued its tremendous growth through product expansion and acquisitions. Today as part of the Newell Rubbermaid Corporation, Anchor Hocking is a world leader in the industry.

When purchased in 1956, Hazel-Atlas continued to operate as the Hazel Ware division of Continental Can. Two pattern names, familiar to collectors as Capri & Moroccan, actually consist of a number of different shapes with the names actually intended to identify the blue and amethyst colors. Additional colors used in these patterns were Crystal, Avocado Green, Harvest Gold and Opaque White. The actual factory names for the various shapes are slowly beginning to appear in the marketplace. To lessen confusion, we have included the "factory shape name" in the descriptions.

Established at Columbus, Ohio in 1900 by two members of the Beatty glass manufacturing family. By 1914 the company was producing a full range of low cost pressed glass items fashionable for that period. They later marketed full tableware sets typical of the "depression era". Almost 75% of their molds were acquired from other manufacturers, especially US Glass. The factory closed in 1980.

In 1902 Hazel Atlas was formed by the merger of the Hazel Glass and Atlas Glass & Metal Companies. By 1928 color was added to their tumbler, tableware, & kitchen lines. Although there was never any connection, their "H over A" trademark is often confused with Anchor Hocking. Purchased in 1956s by Continental Can they continued to operate under the Hazel Ware label. All Hazel Ware items are listed under Continental Can.

Formed in Lancaster, Ohio in 1905 with a focus on hand made small wares. As the result of a major fire in 1924, a new factory designed especially for automated glassware production was built. This automation increased production from one item a minute to thirty-five; by 1929 the rate was up to ninety items per minute. Starting with green, a rainbow of colors soon followed. In 1937 a merger with Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation formed Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation.

Opened in 1907 as a result of the National Glass Company disbanding, they produced hand pressed lines for tearooms and soda fountains. Automation of colored mold-etched dinnerware started in the late 1920's moving the company to the forefront of the glass industry. The company merged with Lancaster in 1955 which in turn became Lancaster Colony Corporation in 1961. Indiana Glass Company closed December 2002.
